So I think it’s fair to say that I’m an easily amused person. I’ve watched this YouTube poop clip a few times over the past week. Maybe it’s because Aladdin was always one of my favorite Disney films, and the jarring combination of disjointed editing and inappropriate sound effects turns it completely on its head. Or maybe I’m just weird!
If the title didn’t clue you in, I’ve been playing Dead Island for the past few days after my copy finally arrived in the mail. Thus far, I’ve been enjoying the game a great deal. It’s got good old-fashioned zombie-killing with heavy focus on melee combat as the primary means of doing so. From my time with it, it feels a bit like Fallout 3 meets Left 4 Dead, with a little Condemned thrown in for good measure. So I recently started playing Hard Reset, an indie title developed by Flying Wild Hog, aimed at bringing back a bit of that old-school shooter action to the PC. An aim I can certainly appreciate as someone who has tired of the abundant realism shooters these days. I’m thinking I need to get some more posts going on this site for visitors, but maybe should be less intensely worried about whether they are substantial enough in length. Writing an in-depth review is well and good, but if I lack the time or patience to write a carefully-worded piece, there should still be something for folks to read on this site every now and again, even if I just want to express my love or disdain for a game when I don’t have interest in writing a full-fledged review.
I guess what I ultimately want to do is give you folks a reason to actually check back here with some regularity. I understand that some of my friends have been doing so and they have expressed disappointment with my lack of news and updates. So starting today, I’m going to start by sharing things like videos that I’ve enjoyed, perhaps some random photography, even just quick thoughts on what I’m doing right now. I’m not wholly sure how far this will go yet, but lets get the ball rolling with this!
The past month or so has been packed with fun activities for yours truly. As far as cinema visitations go (and they don’t happen often, as I generally prefer to buy films outright on DVD or Blu-Ray), recent ones have been very enjoyable. I’ve also had my free time melted away by a few different game titles (with more still to come over the next couple of months). Here’s a quick rundown for you folks! Read the rest of this entry »
